Practical tests are conducted fairly, professionally, and consistently in accordance with the applicable ACS and FAA guidance.

FAA Practical Tests  (Effective October 1, 2026)

• Private Pilot 
• Instrument Rating 
• Commercial Pilot  
• $1,200 per practical test

FAA Practical Re-Tests  (Effective October 1, 2026)

• Flight-only retest: $500
• Ground re-examination followed by the complete flight portion: $800
• These retest fees apply only when the original practical test was conducted by Tama Aviation.
• No additional examiner fee is charged for a continuation under a valid Letter of Discontinuance issued by Tama Aviation, provided the continuation is completed within the applicable FAA time limits.

Remote Administrative Services

• CFI Renewal / Recent Experience (Zoom) 
• Ground Instructor Certification (Zoom)
• $100 per application

These services are completed remotely and require a separate application. Supporting documentation is required based on the type of service requested. Payment via Zelle is required before processing begins.

REMOTE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES FORM

Practical tests outside the listed service areas are available on a limited basis and require prior arrangements. Travel and off-site checkride fees are quoted separately and may differ from the standard fees listed above.

If the Notice of Disapproval or Letter of Discontinuance was issued by another DPE or FAA Inspector, the retest or continuation fee will be the applicable initial practical test fee for the location, regardless of the remaining scope. Any additional travel arrangements or travel-related charges will be communicated before the appointment is confirmed.

Due to limited examiner availability, scheduling priority may be given to applicants whose flight school or recommending instructor has previously coordinated practical tests with Tama Aviation.

Applicants whose flight school or recommending instructor has not previously coordinated with Tama Aviation are still welcome to submit a request. However, these requests will be considered based on remaining availability and may require an additional administrative readiness and document review before an appointment is offered.

Submission of the required information does not guarantee that an appointment will be offered.

Initial Practical Test
Applicants will receive the Practical Test Applicant Guide and the applicable Initial Practical Test Readiness Checklist.

Retest or Continuation Following a Test Conducted by Tama Aviation
Applicants will receive the Retest and Continuation Applicant Guide. An Initial Practical Test Readiness Checklist is required only if requested by the examiner.

Retest or Continuation Following a Test Conducted by Another DPE or FAA Inspector
Applicants will receive the Retest and Continuation Applicant Guide and must complete the applicable Initial Practical Test Readiness Checklist in full.

Every retest or continuation requires a new IACRA application signed by the applicant and recommending instructor. The applicable original Notice of Disapproval or Letter of Discontinuance must be presented. Following a Notice of Disapproval, the required retest endorsement must also be provided; no additional endorsement is required following a Letter of Discontinuance.

When a Readiness Checklist is required, the completed checklist must be submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.

If eligibility cannot be established within 60 minutes of the scheduled start time due to missing, incomplete, or unavailable applicant documentation, the practical test, retest, or continuation will not begin. A separate applicant-caused cancellation fee equal to 50% of the applicable initial practical test fee will apply.
